Cane Corso Socialization

Socialization is the act of getting an animal comfortable and assured around strangers, noises, other animals, in lots of different environments and situations. A key aspect of socializing your puppy is introducing it to the new world around it and allowing its senses to take it all in. Similar to a baby exploring the world around it and learning who is a friend and who is not. Let the pup experience the world it lives in. All canines need socialization to reach peak social potential and interact in society in a safe and controllable manner. Proper socialization builds confidence and creates a well-rounded pet. Many of the dogs which are overly timid, aggressive, jumpy or do not like other animals lacked proper socialization as a puppies. Now their canine social skills are quite limited. It is usually the owners fault and lack of responsibility for the dogs bad manners. Canines learn through socialization and these new experiences what behaviors are normal and what is abnormal. The work ought to start at birth and continue throughout the dog's life. Cane Corsos are naturally very protective and weary of strangers making socialization that much more important more important.

Socialization begins with the breeder at birth and continues when puppies go to new homes around 8 weeks. That is the time for socialization to start in the pups new home. It begins in the house by teaching the pup the way it can live properly together with your relatives and continues in actual world situations. There are lots of methods and ideas to introduce a puppy to the world around it. Understanding the concept is most important, and coming up with your own practices the fun part. Methods I use to socialize our pups and adult dogs:

Bring the pup to a friends for a visit

Take the puppy to visit the vet when it doesn't require shots

Most pet stores permit pets inside

Trip to a farm to meet other species

As many automobile rides as feasible

Walks around town

Bring the pup to meet other canines, after vaccinated

Parks have lots of activity and animals

The socialization of Cane Corsos can not be underestimated or taken lightly. The process of socializing a dog or puppy is an ongoing method and can take months to recognize definite results. It is important for the owner to properly socialize their new puppy and with Cane Corsos the socialization should continue throughout the dog's life. Socialization is a very important step in obtaining that ideal pet.
